When I found myself facing redundancy in 2013, I was delighted to receive a call from the Carers Centre to let me know about a temporary post being advertised as Volunteer Coordinator, a role I had previously done for 5 years. This was the start of my career at the Carers Centre, joining the then small team of four staff and volunteers.
Before becoming the Carers Centre Manager, my role as the Training and Development Officer involved developing the Carers Training Programme for carers which I still do. It’s lovely to meet and see so many carers benefiting from all the courses and one off sessions that we provide and know you have been part of that.
Having worked within the local community for over 15 years in a variety of roles in different organisations and areas of Wigan, my work has always involved working with and supporting both communities and individuals of all ages in the Wigan Borough.
Being part of the team at the Carers Centre, an organisation that really cares about what they do is important to me and a great environment to work in.
